At My Little Monkeys Preschool, you will get the quality program that your child needs in preparation for kindergarten in a small and cozy atmoshphere. Class size will be maxed at 8 children and 1 teacher.
Curriculum follows the NAEYC standards in the areas of social, emotional, physical, language, math and science. Children will have experiences within the classroom with daily circle time, weekly themes, music and craft time, activities that enhance brain development, and more. Occasional field trips will take students learning beyond the classroom as well! Guardians will get to experience things such as conferences, graduation ceremony, and school pictures.

Health is important at My Little Monkeys Preschool! To comply with CDC guidlines and the recent outbreak of COVID-19, children will have their temperatures taken upon arrival, a lot of handwashing during the school session, and an increase of cleaning and disinfecting measures.
MINDFULNESS
Mindfulness is the intentional focus on the present moment in a nonjudgemental way. It started with the intentions of helping adults but there has recently been studies showing how it helps children as young as the preschool age.

We now know that emotional intelligence-or EQ- is a greater predictor of life success than IQ. Mindfulness practices have shown to relieve stress, increase self-regulation skills, increase memory, brain functioning, and improve social and emotional development. During your childs time at My Little Monkeys Preschool, they will have daily practices on mindfulness. They will learn self control abilities, regulate emotions, and form healthy relationships with family, friends and their community.

Students will do this by learning how to focus on breathing, how to pay attention to their emotions as well as those around them, how emotions affect their bodies and others, do stretching techniques, and by doing random acts of kindess.
​
By doing these practices, we hope to make a direct positive contribution to their future health outcomes, financial status, and social adjustment as adults.

My Little Monkeys Preschool Story
This preschool is new to Cedar Rapids but Miss Michelle has 25 years of experience! Michelle taught at a small school preschool directly after earning her Early Childhood degree but then chose to stay home to raise her own babies. It was then she began in home daycare with a preschool curriculum. She is energetic, creative, compassionate and loving towards all who enter the door!
